Trent Memorial Hall
A well-located venue for your family celebration or event
Trent Memorial Hall is situated in the charming village of Trent, which lies close to Sherborne in Dorset and has become a hub of our small community.
With a large open hall, separate meeting/function room and adjoining a lovely and spacious village green, this is a good venue for a wedding reception, parties, dances, corporate events and both day and evening classes. Currently, there are many classes in the hall, including for those interested in yoga, dog training, fitness and quilting.
Supporting the Community
Hall starting to reopen!
We are pleased to say that the lifting of many Covid restrictions from 17 May means we are starting to reopen the hall. From 17 May we are welcoming groups of six indoors, including quilting and yoga classes. This enables us to maintain social distancing. And, of course, the weekly Post Office continues to operate every Thursday between 10am and Noon. If most of the remaining restrictions are lifted from 21 June, larger groups will be able to use the hall again – watch this space for further information.

Update on the Playground
Over the last few months we have been actively fundraising and applying for grants in order to install a new playground, an initiative which will – in effect – complete our Hall modernisation project. Supported by a wide range of people, including the Friends of Trent School, villagers, schoolchildren, the Parish Council and many others, we have succeeded in raising the necessary funds. Groundworks to prepare the site are due to start in the week of 24 May, with the play equipment being installed in the week of 28 June. We are really looking forward to welcoming children – who have had no playground during the lockdowns – to use the new playground over the summer, a wonderful addition to the village’s facilities.
In the Media.
The BBC featured Trent Memorial Hall as part of a segment on village halls for the Countryfile Christmas Special, shown on 22 December 2019. David Walden and Nicola Harris were interviewed and Nick Parsons, Paul Dart and Simon Crozier were filmed working on the new extension. You can watch the piece on BBC iPlayer – it starts about 14 minutes into the programme.
If you would like to help or need more information about the renovation, please contact the Hall Secretary, David Walden, on 01935 851753 or 07789 653522.
If you are looking to organise a function including a meal, the hall caters for up to 70 people seated, supported by a kitchen. If your preference is to have food prepared for you, you can arrange for outside caterers or ask our fantastic local pub – the Rose and Crown – about a potential catering solution.
The hall is available for booking a variety of events, great for village organisations or for outside groups seeking a venue in the area.
