Trent Memorial Hall
A well-located venue for your family celebration or event
Trent Memorial Hall is situated in the charming village of Trent, which lies close to Sherborne in Dorset and has become a hub of our small community.
With a large open hall, separate meeting/function room and adjoining a lovely and spacious village green, this is a good venue for a wedding reception, parties, dances, corporate events and both day and evening classes. Currently, there are many classes in the hall, including for those interested in yoga, dog training, fitness and quilting.
Supporting the Community
Activities can resume
Following recent changes to Government regulations, Dorset has been placed in Tier 2 (High Alert) of the latest set of restrictions. This means that certain activities, such as indoor exercise, can resume in the Hall, provided measures such as social distancing and non-mixing of different households are observed. Hall users must observe the “Hands-Face-Space” approach. As always, our overriding priority remains keeping people who use the building safe during the coronavirus pandemic. The arrangements which applied before the November lockdown will therefore be largely re-applied.
In the Spotlight
Support our playground
For many years children in Trent and at the school were able to play on some play equipment on the village green, particularly a large wooden tractor. Unfortunately all the equipment had to be taken down some years ago as it had become old and unsafe. At that stage the Hall Committee’s priority was refurbishing the Hall but we are now keen to reinstate a new playground. A group backing this development has already raised some £2,500 but we need to raise more. This is particularly important as we are applying for a range of grants and funders like to see that applicants are also doing what they can to raise their own funds.
In the Media.
The BBC featured Trent Memorial Hall as part of a segment on village halls for the Countryfile Christmas Special, shown on 22 December 2019. David Walden and Nicola Harris were interviewed and Nick Parsons, Paul Dart and Simon Crozier were filmed working on the new extension. You can watch the piece on BBC iPlayer – it starts about 14 minutes into the programme.
If you would like to help or need more information about the renovation, please contact the Hall Secretary, David Walden, on 01935 851753 or 07789 653522.
If you are looking to organise a function including a meal, the hall caters for up to 70 people seated, supported by a kitchen. If your preference is to have food prepared for you, you can arrange for outside caterers or ask our fantastic local pub – the Rose and Crown – about a potential catering solution.
The hall is available for booking a variety of events, great for village organisations or for outside groups seeking a venue in the area.
