Trent Memorial Hall near Sherborne Dorset

Trent Memorial Hall

A well-located venue for your family celebration or event

Trent Memorial Hall is situated in the charming village of Trent, which lies close to Sherborne in Dorset and has become a hub of our small community.

With a large open hall, separate meeting/function room and adjoining a lovely and spacious village green, this is a good venue for a wedding reception, parties, dances, corporate events and both day and evening classes. Currently, there are many classes in the hall, including for those interested in yoga, dog training, fitness and quilting.

Hall Bookings

Hall Closure – November 2020

In the light of recent changes to Government regulations, the Hall has to be closed from Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December. Neither indoor nor outdoor activities and events can take place during that period. Once we are able to reopen, our overriding priority will remain keeping people who use the building safe during the coronavirus pandemic. We are therefore likely to have to continue the current arrangements. These include generally limiting the numbers who can attend functions or classes at any one time to 6 in either the main Hall or Meeting Room. We will not hire the two rooms to different groups at the same time. Larger events (of up to 30 people) may be possible but only if strict conditions on mixing, social distancing, etc, are followed. Please contact the Hall Secretary on 01935-851753 if you are thinking of putting on such an event.
These measures will be kept under review as we gain more experience of operating under the Covid regime.
We have installed hand sanitisers, a one-way system, signage and other measures to keep people safe. These take account of:

Please have a look at these documents if you are thinking of booking the Hall. They are designed to ensure people using the hall are kept safe and not be too onerous for hirers.

Hall Improvement Updates

In October we received our Building Regulations Completion Certificate.

This is an important milestone for our Hall Improvement Project. A few small tasks remain to be completed and we are also turning our attention to replacing the play equipment, having had to remove the old equipment because it was now no longer safe. Watch this space for more on this in the coming months.

In the Media.

The BBC featured Trent Memorial Hall as part of a segment on village halls for the Countryfile Christmas Special, shown on 22 December. David Walden and Nicola Harris were interviewed and Nick Parsons, Paul Dart and Simon Crozier were filmed working on the new extension. You can watch the piece on BBC iPlayer – it starts about 14 minutes into the programme.

If you would like to help or need more information about the renovation, please contact the Hall Secretary, David Walden, on 01935 851753 or 07789 653522.
