We are delighted with the outcome of last October’s sponsored Bike Ride from the Menin Gate to Trent in honour of those who fell in the Great War. Donations have totalled a magnificent £8,347.
We are enormously grateful to everyone – whether from Trent, Adber and Hummer, the wider Queen Thorne Benefice or from well beyond this area – who contributed so wonderfully to this cause.
The funds raised are going to the Hall improvement project and to Combat Stress, the national charity providing life-changing treatments to veterans from every service and every conflict who have mental health issues, on the phone, online and in person. Recently Sarah Crosby personally delivered a cheque for over £4,000 to Combat Stress at their Surrey headquarters.
The fundraising team met with Sarah and all said how lovely it was to have the funds delivered personally as they really valued hearing about the planning, trials and experiences which had been the hallmark of what turned out to be an amazing event. Hannah from the fundraising team said they had been following our daily updates on the web page and on Instagram and have requested some of our photographs for their archives and publicity. It really can’t be said enough but the thanks given were genuine and the funds are so very much appreciated. Thank you again to all who supported this (ad)venture.
